本週我們來學習與固執偏執相關的詞彙
1. opinionated /əpɪnjəneɪtɪd/
adj.固執己見的;頑固的;
e.g. He is too opinionated to listen to anyone else.
e.g. Being opinionated can be a double-edged sword; it shows conviction but can also alienate others.
補充:a double-edged sword 雙刃劍
alienate v. 使…疏遠
2. uncompromising /ʌnkɒmprəmaɪzɪŋ/
adj. 不妥協的;堅定的
搭配:uncompromising stance 堅定的立場
e.g. She is uncompromising in her values, refusing to take shortcuts even when its the easier option.
The leader’s uncompromising stance on transparency earned her both respect and criticism.
n. compromise 妥協;作出讓步
搭配:make / reach a compromise 做出讓步
e.g. Marriage involves being patient and making compromises.
e.g. An acceptable compromise has been reached and the dispute has ended.
e.g. People who are opinionated and assertive may struggle to be effective team players, as they often resist making compromises.
3. vocal/vəʊk(ə)l/
adj. 直言不諱的;強烈指出的
搭配:be vocal in /about something
e.g. They have been very vocal in their opposition to the plan.
e.g. In the debate, each participant was vocal in defending their viewpoints.
4. validation /ˌvælideiʃən/
n. 認可;肯定
e.g. Many people present an assertive or confident image to seek validation. Being seen as knowledgeable, strong, or decisive helps them feel valued and respected.
syn: recognition n. 認可
Some people are so desperate for recognition that they believe it reinforces their self-worth, helping them feel valued or informed.

5. turn a deaf ear to
對…充耳不聞;聽不進去
e.g. He always turns a deaf ear to advice from friends, believing he knows whats best for himself.
e.g. His headstrong nature often causes him to turn a deaf ear to suggestions from his colleagues, believing he knows best.
